Same Time.
Workshop Abstract
Discover how thematic predictable books with sing-alongs
can teach early literacy concepts while incorporating each of
Howard Gardner's 8 Multiple Intelligences. This fun and energetic
workshop includes developmentally appropriate literacy strategies,
thematic extensions, integrated activities and ideas for immediate
classroom use. Lorraine, will also demonstrate how to make student-illustrated
predictable books that incorporate science, language, math and
art with the book's theme. The student-illustrated books can then
be shared with the child’s family for extended literacy in the
home.

2. Integrating Curriculum through Trade
Books
Workshop Abstract
A children’s book can open a door for exciting
and new experiences. Discover how a book’s story and theme can
be extended into all areas of the curriculum. Lorraine will share
hands-on, interactive activities in the content areas of science,
math, art, literacy, language, music and creative movement using
“old favorites” and new children’s literature. These activities
and experiences will bring the books to life for the children.

3. Sing Your Way through Shared Reading
Workshop Abstract
Discover how to enrich and personalize the shared
reading and writing experience for your students using original,
student-illustrated big books. Lorraine will show how to teach
phonological and phonemic awareness using literacy strategies,
minilessons and innovative ideas. Shared reading and writing will
build student’s self-esteem, pride and literacy confidence.

Workshop Abstract
Join Lorraine for this exciting workshop that
demonstrates how early childhood concepts can be internalized
through songs and creative movement. The musical activities with
simple moves will promote cooperative learning and teamwork, incorporate
language and literacy skills, while building self-esteem. You
will feel confident integrating a musical and kinesthetic approach
